Eyres Monsell Community Church is a new church which began meeting on Sundays in January 2024 on the Eyres Monsell estate in Leicester, as a plant from Avenue Community Church. Funding from The Lauderdale Trust has supported the core costs of the plant.
On Sundays for the first half of the year, Dan preached through John’s Gospel and we’ve learnt so much! Sometimes we forget what new Christians don’t know and what seems like a normal cultural reference to us is completely alien to our new believers or those exploring the bible for the first time.
When Dan preached about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, instead of reading the whole of passage in John 11, he read a chunk, preached, read a chunk preached… and some sitting in the congregation had NO clue that Jesus was going to (or had the power to) raise Lazarus up from the dead! It was beautiful to see the amazement and shock at Jesus’ power on their faces!
