Hope Church at Bethel and Calvary serves the villages of Cefn Hengoed and Penybryn in the Rhymney Valley, South Wales. Funding from The Lauderdale Trust has gone towards the Grace to Serve project, which has involved taking on a Co-Pastor to work across all ministry areas of the church.
Pastor Alun [the Co-Pastor] speaks regularly at an animal therapy centre in the locality, which provides accommodation and support to people who have suffered through abuse and addiction. A large number of men from this centre attend our men’s breakfasts each month. Both Pastor Alun and Pastor Steve have good ties with local primary schools, serving as school governors and regularly taking assemblies. Pastor Alun has a wellbeing role in a local Welsh medium primary school, running activities on the yard with pupils and supporting staff.
